Hi, I'm Shawn Lutley, an instructional designer with Quest Software, and I'd like to welcome you to the On Demand Recovery-- How to Restore a Hard-Deleted Object video demonstration. Within the recovery service, we're going to take a look up and backups and make sure we have a recent backup. As you can see, there was one taken today at 6:00 AM. So we're going to use that backup.
Now, I'm going to go over to a Azure Active Directory. I'm going to go ahead and delete the user Adele Vance. The user's at the top, so it'll be easy to go back and find her after the restore. So now let's go to the deleted users, and we're going to hard delete her so she will be not in the recycle bin. So delete permanently, yes, and she's gone.
Now, let's go back to the On Demand Recovery Service. We're going to go ahead and unpack the latest backup. I'm going to go ahead and leave all the defaults. And then I'm going to unpack today's latest backup at 6:00 AM.
Let's go ahead and take a look at the unpacked backup task. [INAUDIBLE] be details. For the purpose of this video, I'm going to speed it up. It usually only takes about 30 seconds for about 100 objects. And as you can see with the green checkmark, it completed successfully.
Now, let's go check out the new unpacked objects. We currently have two Office 365 demo environments. So that's why you'll see two users. But I know the 7 at the end was the one that we deleted.
Now, you just select the user, then select the restore button to start the process. Here you have some options. Restore Deleted Objects from recycle bin-- this means if this isn't the Azure Active Directory recycle bin, restore it from there. If an object is not found in recycle bin, create a new one. If a hybrid user already exists in Azure Active Directory, delete it before the restore operation. And then you have the restore all attributes.
You can also specify a password for the encrypted backup, but that's hybrid configuration only. Just click OK to start the restore process. Then we're going to go ahead and view the details of the restore task. It usually doesn't take very long to restore a single object.
And now you can see it's completed. The little green checkmark means that it was restored successfully. Now, let's go back to Azure Active Directory, do a quick refresh, and you can see she's back.
And that concludes this video demonstration. Thank you for taking the time to watch, and there'll be many more to come. To learn more about On Demand, visit us online.
