Hello, my name is Robert Pound and I am a product technologist for Quest. Today's video, we will walk through the user interface in Toad Edge. So looking at the tool, we can see that at the top we have drop down menus and they have some of the traditional menu items that you would expect in a Windows application. When working with code we have code formatter and transformation, and when working with the database tool you have things like schema compare, object search, in connections we have your standard connect-disconnect as well as the Connection Manager, and here we have all the views that you can possibly see in the tool, your windows, and then help. This not only points you to the help file which is very useful, but it also points you to other resources like release notes, Toad, your account, a little bit about the tool itself, and then below this we have the ribbon bar which has all your commonly used items including continuous integration and deployment for those folks that are on the DevOps journey. And again you have access to your account and your license is here as well.
And then in the middle of the ribbon bar is the status window and then to the left we have the two primary views that you'll be using up regularly so the Connections window, which has, as you would expect, all your connections, and then the Object Explorer which allows you to view all the objects for a given connection. If either of these have been closed you can come up to views and simply make sure that Connections or Object Explorer are selected, and for any one of these windows you can click and drag and you can move it to anywhere in the tool. So, as you can see, the orange boxes are highlighting where the window will end up. So if I wanted to move the QuickDocks to the bottom, I can move it here.
And then you have your standard minimize and maximize as well. So anything that's been minimized will show up either on this tray to the right or a tray to the left, and for any one of these if you click on the icon it will pop out so that you can work with it, but then when you go back to working in the tool it will disappear. If you want to restore it you can obviously click the Restore button and it will go back to where it was originally. And finally, real briefly, to set some of the preferences we can come here to view and select Preferences. So if we first go to General, these are some of your obviously general options but things like startup options like restoring connections. So if you close the tool and then open it back up or store the connections that you currently have established, on down through user interface et cetera. Under data you can affect the fetch limit. If you want to fetch more than 500 rows at a time you can change that here. And feedback, so if you opt in to participate in feedback and you no longer want to, or vice versa, you can change your feedback preferences here. Obviously, this is a very high overview of the preferences. You can dig more into it. I just wanted to highlight a few things, and that's all I really had to share for the user interface. Hopefully this helped you understand a little bit more about Toad Edge. For more information on the tool, you can check out the help file. It has a wide range of information on the tool.
